Amour, drame et trahison sous le soleil de Sicile : ce « pasticcio » recomposé de mélodies populaires et de répertoire savant est né de l’amour de Leonardo García Alarcón et des chanteurs et musiciens de la Cappella Mediterranea pour les chansons calabraises, siciliennes et napolitaines qui remontent aux 17 et 18ème siècles…

On entend les musiques d’Alessandro Scarlatti et de Sigismondo d’India, tous deux nés à Palerme, ainsi que des œuvres issues du fonds de la cathédrale Saint-Jean de Malte, d’une richesse extraordinaire (Vincenzo Tozzi…) Leonardo García Alarcón a même composé une fugue à cinq voix sur  La canzone di Cecilia , l’héroïne du drame, Quito Gato a signé les arrangements. Cet hommage à l’Italie du sud par la Cappella Mediterranea triomphe sur scène depuis des années, cet enregistrement l’immortalise.
