Famous for its “cold song”, the semi-opera King Arthur tells of the birth of Britain and the victory of King Arthur over the Saxons. To these adventures, in which enchantment and fairy tales combine, is added a love story. How will the valiant hero save his betrothed? Here, Henry Purcell has composed his most elegant stage music in which tragedy alternates with humour.
