In Florence, he acquired elegance in poetic musical composition, in Rome, a sumptuous counterpoint, and in Paros, echoes of dance, court music and song. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cArcadelt translates the sensuality of the poetry with such intelligence that even today, his music permeates us, forging new emotions and enriching our perspectives.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<cite><strong>Leonardo Garc\u00eda Alarc\u00f3n<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A beauty born out of multiple European influences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Arcadelt was one of the first great madrigalists. He was born in Namur in 1507. He lived in Lyon before entering into the service of Alessandro de\u2019 Medici\u2019s court in Florence. He then went to Venice and eventually joined the Sistine Chapel in Rome under Pope Paul III. He later became choirmaster to Charles de Guise, Cardinal of Lorraine. He served under King Henry II until his death in Paris in 1568. Arcadelt is known for having set Michelangelo\u2019s poems to music. Another one of his scores illustrates Caravaggio&#8217;s famous painting of the Lute Player. His success was such that at the beginning of the 17th century, Monteverdi was astonished to discover that collections of Arcadelt\u2019s compositions were outselling his own in Italy. The Ch\u0153ur de chambre de Namur first introduced Arcadelt\u2019s fine, airy music to Leonardo Garc\u00eda Alarc\u00f3n. Since then, the choir has performed Arcadelt\u2019s works with Cappella Mediterranea on a regular basis and in February 2018, the two ensembles recorded an album dedicated to the composer (released by Ricercar).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jacques Arcadelt - Il bianco e dolce Cigno\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wMImLeCewio?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
