Op\u00e9ra court qui rev\u00eat les proportions d&#8217;une <em>serenata<\/em> ou d&#8217;un <em>intermezzo<\/em>, il pr\u00e9sente cependant une harmonieuse structure dramatique, d&#8217;une \u00e9tonnante puissance tragique pour sa concision. Sa partition r\u00e9ussie une synth\u00e8se harmonieuse des go\u00fbts fran\u00e7ais, italiens et anglais.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;L\u2019amour, la tendresse, la peur de la mort, la peur de l\u2019abandon, la joie, la f\u00eate, l\u2019invocation des forces de la nature ou des dieux, la temp\u00eate et les sorci\u00e8res dans <\/em>Didon et \u00c9n\u00e9e<em>, tout cela existe depuis que l\u2019homme existe et c\u2019est cela que j\u2019essaie de partager avec les \u00e9tudiant\u00b7es. Dans l\u2019art, on utilise toute la palette des \u00e9motions, des plus vertueuses jusqu\u2019aux p\u00e9ch\u00e9s capitaux, on doit tout vivre : on peut aller chercher le c\u00f4t\u00e9 sombre des \u00e9motions et partager une catharsis.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<cite><strong>Leonardo Garc\u00eda-Alarc\u00f3n, propos recueillis par Judith Le Blanc<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un op\u00e9ra de chambre<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Didon et \u00c9n\u00e9e<\/em>&nbsp;fut repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 en 1689 par les jeunes filles d\u2019un pensionnat priv\u00e9 \u00e0 Chelsea (Londres), accompagn\u00e9es au clavecin par Purcell lui-m\u00eame. Cette \u0153uvre courte (elle dure une heure environ) est le premier v\u00e9ritable op\u00e9ra anglais, et le seul compos\u00e9 par Purcell, les autres appartenant au genre du semi-opera en raison de la pr\u00e9sence de textes parl\u00e9s. Op\u00e9ra de chambre, il m\u00eale com\u00e9die et trag\u00e9die, et exprime une grande diversit\u00e9 de styles vocaux, du plus \u00e9mouvant (le chant de Didon mourante) au plus grandiose (le
