Mais ce n&#8217;est pas le moment de se reposer sur ses lauriers, car une guerre secr\u00e8te, cette fois sans les fracas des bataille, se d\u00e9roule \u00e0 huis clos \u00e0 la cour romaine, entre amour, d\u00e9sir, trahison et jalousie : Sesto, le fils de Pompeo, d\u00e9sire la belle prisonni\u00e8re de guerre Issicratea, sans savoir qu&#8217;elle est l&#8217;\u00e9pouse de Mitridate, un adversaire du grand Pompeo, cens\u00e9 \u00eatre mort. Mais Mitridate est bien vivant et vit incognito \u00e0 Rome, o\u00f9 il met \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9preuve la fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 de sa femme et la loyaut\u00e9 de son fils Farnace. Pompeo lui-m\u00eame est amoureux de Giulia, la fille de C\u00e9sar, qui a d\u00e9j\u00e0 promis son c\u0153ur \u00e0 Servilio. Le conqu\u00e9rant redout\u00e9 doit maintenant prouver qu&#8217;il est aussi un \u00eatre humain sensible\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Cette production sc\u00e9nique ambitieuse d&#8217;un des op\u00e9ras les plus incandescents de Francesco Cavalli constitue le point d&#8217;orgue de la programmation du Festival Baroque de Bayreuth 2025. Cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1666 au Teatro San Salvatore de Venise, cette \u0153uvre se situe \u00e0 l&#8217;apog\u00e9e des premiers temps de l&#8217;op\u00e9ra, dans laquelle tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui constituent aujourd&#8217;hui les fondements de l&#8217;art du th\u00e9\u00e2tre musical sont parfaitement imbriqu\u00e9s dans un drame dense et aux multiples facettes. Le tragique est juxtapos\u00e9 au comique, les \u00e9motions profondes se m\u00ealent au grotesque. Max-Emanuel Cen\u010di\u0107 met en sc\u00e8ne ce drame color\u00e9, avec sa riche diversit\u00e9 de personnages issus du carnaval et de la commedia dell&#8217;arte.
